Marilee Eckert Executive Director Marilee Eckert has a M.A. in Counseling Psychology and over 20 years experience in program development and management for various non-profit agencies. Marilee has been the Executive Director of the Conservation Corps North Bay since 1992. Previously she directed an employment training, job placement and career guidance program for youth in Oakland for six years. Additionally she has been a classroom teacher, managed university student affairs programs, and directed residential camps. Marilee has served for the past 12 years as a Board Member including 2 years as Board Chair of The Corps Network (the national conservation corps association) and is an executive member of the California Association of Local Conservation Corps. She serves on the Marin County Economic Commission (Chair 2007-09) and the Marin County Disaster Council. Previously she served on many agency Boards including the Center for Volunteer and Non-profit Leadership of Marin for 4 years, the Environmental Education Council of Marin for 8 years, Fire Safe Marin for 4 years and the Human Rights Roundtable on Hate Violence for 3 years. Under Marilee's leadership Conservation Corps North Bay grew from a small organization to more than a $6 million organization with model programs that have been duplicated by other corps across the nation and in several countries throughout the world. |

Deborah Schoenbaum Deputy Director For the past 10 years, Deborah Schoenbaum has focused her professional and personal pursuits on issues related to conservation, environmental justice, and social equity. In October 2005 she became the Deputy Director of the Conservation Corps North Bay where her responsibilities include refining CCNB's programmatic vision, raising the profile of CCNB's programs, and strengthening relationships with partners, sponsors, elected officials and the general public. She also focuses on staff development and training. Prior to joining CCNB, Deborah was the Director of Bay Area Urban Programs for The Trust for Public Land (TPL), managing and expanding TPL's Bay Area Community Parks and Playground Program which serves low-income, underserved communities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. She also served as a Government Relations Advisor for The Nature Conservancy where she worked on community outreach, partnerships and coalition building, particularly within communities of color throughout California. In addition to her work at CCNB, Deborah teaches at the Center for Whole Communities located at Knoll Farm in Fayston, Vermont. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and is an alumnus of Leadership San Francisco (Class of 2006). |

Gary Miltimore Director of Sonoma Programs Gary Miltimore has been a valued CCNB staff member since 2001. He started as the Natural Resource Field Supervisor and was promoted to Natural Resource Manager where his duties included managing all aspects of the Natural Resource Crew program, including program budgeting, hiring and supervising staff, vocational training, and securing fee-for-service work. As the Director of Sonoma Programs, Gary will oversee all aspects of the Sonoma operations and programs. He is formally trained in conflict resolution, gang awareness, sexual harassment and leadership, and has extensive experience working with the young adult population we will serve in Sonoma County. Prior to coming to CCNB, Gary was the Field Manager for Sonoma County Conservation Action. He has a bachelor's degree from Sonoma State University in Environmental Studies. |

Viola Morris Financial Director Viola Morris joined the Conservation Corps North Bay staff in June 2006 as the Financial Director. Prior to CCNB, Viola served as the Deputy Director for the Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center, a multi-service agency in San Francisco, California. She volunteers for the Richmond District Neighborhood Center, serving as the Vice President of the Board of Directors. Viola completed the Development Training Institute's Leadership Academy and graduated from the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. |

Laura J. Giacomini Development Director Laura J. Giacomini has over 25 years experience in the nonprofit field and has her Master's degree in Nonprofit Business Administration. She has had the good fortune to work for a variety of nonprofits as their first “official” development director – Shanti, Ritter Center, Alliance for Technology Access, East Bay Habitat for Humanity, and Urban Homesteading Assistance Board. In this capacity, she has developed a niche in assisting nonprofits in building their development infrastructure by creating and implementing development plans, projecting multi-year budgets, hiring and training staff, and recruiting volunteer leaders to achieve fundraising and organizational goals. Laura holds a Masters in Nonprofit Business Administration from the University of Judaism and a BA in History from California State University, Chico. |

William Pagán Human Resources Manager William Pagán has been in the Human Resources profession for the last 13 years. William became the Human Resources Manager with MCC in March 2006. Prior to joining MCC, he worked for the Hilton Sonoma Wine Country Hotel in Santa Rosa for five years as Director of Human Resources and three years for as the Human Resources Manager for Friedman's Home Improvement Center, a four-location home improvement family owned-company. He began in Human Resources as a Human Resources Coordinator with the Hilton San Francisco Hotel and held this position for three years prior to going to work for Friedman's. |

Terence Desborough Education Director Terence Desborough has more than twenty years' experience in the management and delivery of educational programs in Europe and the United States. After receiving his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History at Cambridge University, Terence began his teaching career as an instructor in English as a Second Language. He has been a teacher and consultant (designing and devising academic courses) in a variety of countries, and academic director and director of education programs in the United Kingdom, Italy, Russia and the United States. Terence came to CCNB from the University of California (UC) system where he worked at UCLA Extension and, most recently, as Education Program Manager for the International Diploma Programs at UC Berkeley Extension. He continues to satisfy his love of classroom teaching with a part-time position at Santa Rosa Junior College. |

Max Korten Natural Resources Manager Max Korten has been working in the field of Natural Resources Management for the last 10 years. He received a Bachelor's degree from UC Santa Cruz in Environmental Studies and a Masters of Science Degree in Natural Resources Planning from Humboldt State University. Before joining Conservation Corps North Bay, Max worked as a Wilderness Ranger and Trail Crew Supervisor for the Los Padres National Forest and as a Backcountry Ranger in the King Range. He has worked at Conservation Corps North Bay Since January of 2007 where he started as the Natural Resources Coordinator before being promoted to Natural Resources Manager. |

Will Becker Recycling and AmeriCorps Program Manager Will Becker joined the Conservation Corps North Bay staff in October 2008. Since 2001, Will served as the Program Manager for Environment & Health for the Tides Foundation where he worked with over 100 projects. Prior to that, Will has served as a museum curator, an archaeologist in eastern Turkey, an America Reads tutor, and coordinator for the repatriation of American Indian grave artifacts. In eastern Turkey, he focused on the impact of ancient climate change on Bronze Age city states. He is currently on the Board of Real Reason, a 501(c)(3) that uses cognitive linguistics to analyze and formulate political ideas, and the Advisory Council of Akili Dada, an international nongovernmental organization based in Kenya providing scholarships for the next generation of Kenyan women leaders. Will holds an MA in anthropology from San Francisco State University and BA in anthropology from Whitman College. |

Bethallyn Black Indian Valley Organic Farm & Garden Manager For the past 11 years prior to joining CCNB, Bethallyn worked at the University of California Cooperative Extension as the Urban Horticulture Program Manager. In this role, she developed and implemented annual basic trainings for Contra Costa Master Gardeners, and provided advanced training for Master Gardeners in northern and central California counties as well. She also designed and offered training in residential firescaping for high risk areas in conjunction with the Contra Costa County Fire Marshal. Additionally, Bethallyn was the UCCE liaison with local environmental groups, UC advisors, specialists, and Contra Costa County Master Gardener volunteers. Bethallyn monitored emerging pests such as the Light Brown Apple Moth, Phytophthora ramorum, Cherry Buckskin, and the Cherry Fruit Fly to name a few. Finally, she also developed the “Buy Fresh, Buy Local” program for Contra Costa. Bethallyn has a Masters Degree in Ecological Agriculture/Andragogy from New College of California, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from New College of California. We believe that Bethallyn’s extensive experience in working in agricultural/farm programs as well as developing curriculum will serve her well in this joint collaboration with the College of Marin. |
