Project ReGeneration – just the FAQs.

What is Project ReGeneration?

Project ReGeneration (ReGen) is an environmental service and learning program for middle and high school youth. It inspires future generations of environmental stewards and leaders through a unique combination of outdoor education, community service and recreational activities. Members have the opportunity to make the summer a positive experience.

What do Project ReGen members do?

  • Acquire an ethic of service and make positive changes in the community
  • Discover the importance of environmental issues such as recycling and habitat restoration through hands-on, experiential learning activities
  • Learn to incorporate responsible behaviors into everyday life
  • Make new friends from culturally and economically diverse backgrounds
  • Participate in fun, educational and unique recreational activities

What are some examples of where Project ReGen projects are located?

ReGen teams serve in natural settings throughout Marin County, including the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Marin Municipal Water District, Angel Island State Park, Mount Tamalpais State Park, Point Reyes National Seashore, and Marin County Open Space District. Because of the services they provide, they are often treated to access to areas not accessible to the general public, making the experience even more special and unique. Approximately half the day consists of environmental service projects and the other half is environmental education and recreation activities.

What are the benefits of being a ReGen member?

Members have the opportunity to spend the summer in spectacular outdoor environments.

Members learn how to recycle, be part of a team, gain self-confidence and a positive service ethic, discover their own power to make a difference in the community, and meet new friends.

High school participants have the opportunity to earn environmental science elective credits through CCNB's John Muir Charter School. To receive credit at your individual school please contact your school's counselor to have these credits pre-approved.

Will ReGen members receive stipends?

Conservation Corps North Bay was affected by funding cuts that also reached many of our region’s cherished parks and schools. Despite absorbing substantial funding cuts, we remain committed to what Project ReGen has always stood for - a free, high quality 4 week program for youth. Unfortunately, the funding reductions mean that Stipends will not be available for participants. We are looking into other non-cash incentives for participants but they are not firm at this point.
