Project ReGeneration – just the FAQs.

What is Project ReGeneration?

Project ReGeneration (ReGen) is an environmental service and learning program for sixth through ninth graders in Marin and Sonoma counties. It inspires future generations of environmental stewards and leaders through a unique combination of outdoor education, community service and recreational activities. Members have the opportunity to make the summer a positive experience.

What do Project ReGeneration members do?

  • Acquire an ethic of service and make positive changes in the community
  • Discover the importance of environmental issues such as recycling and habitat restoration through hands-on, experiential learning activities
  • Learn to incorporate responsible behaviors into everyday life
  • Make new friends from culturally and economically diverse backgrounds
  • Participate in fun, educational and unique recreational activities

What are some examples of where Project ReGeneration projects are located?

Project ReGeneration teams serve in natural settings throughout the North Bay, including the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Marin Municipal Water District, Angel Island State Park, Mount Tamalpais State Park, Point Reyes National Seashore, Marin County Open Space District, and Sonoma County Park and Open Space Lands. Because of the services they provide, they are often treated to access to areas not accessible to the general public, making the experience even more special and unique. Approximately half the day consists of environmental service projects and the other half is environmental education and recreation activities.

What are the benefits of being a Project ReGeneration member?

Members have the opportunity to spend the summer in spectacular outdoor environments.

Members learn how to recycle, be part of a team, gain self-confidence and a positive service ethic, discover their own power to make a difference in the community, and meet new friends.

Ninth graders have the opportunity to earn environmental science elective credits through CCNB's John Muir Charter School. To receive credit at your individual school please contact your school's counselor to have these credits pre-approved.

Members will earn a Learn & Serve America scholarship of $500 upon completing 100 hours of service in the program that they can apply towards their higher education.
