Position: Natural Resource Corpsmember

The opportunity: Learn about cutting edge environmental issues while working to reduce pollution, energy usage, waste and increase community awareness. Corpsmembers work with land agencies to keep Marin and Sonoma County's wild lands accessible, safe and beautiful. Projects range from a single day to several weeks in length and offer the opportunity for training in hand and power tool use, plant identification and general job training.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Work cooperatively with a diverse group of people.
  • Report daily to a crew supervisor and carry out all assigned tasks.
  • Make a one-year, full-time commitment to the program.
  • Participate in both the field work and education aspects of the program.
  • Do strenuous work in all kinds of weather – heat, rain, wind, etc.

Compensation:

  • $9.00 an hour to start.
  • $5,300 AmeriCorps education scholarship after completion of 1,700 hours in our program if eligible.
  • Training and mentorship in environmental science, career development, public relations, community leadership, and much more!
  • Post-service job search assistance and support for two (2) years after completion of the program.

Desired qualifications:

  • United States citizen, or proof of your legal right to live and work in this country.
  • Between the ages of 18 and 28.
  • Interest in conservation issues, recycling and waste reduction.
  • Interest in affecting change through community service.
  • Enthusiastic about developing new skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people.
  • A one-year commitment to participation in an education and job-training program.
