Position: Community Recycling Corpsmember

The opportunity: Learn about cutting edge environmental issues while working to reduce pollution, energy usage, waste and increase community awareness. CRC crew members implement a wide variety of projects with parks, schools, businesses, non-profits and neighborhoods, including collection, outreach and education.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Collect recyclables from parklands and recreational areas throughout Marin and Sonoma Counties, including driving to location, sorting of materials, and assessing maintenance needs of CCNB's recycling bins.
  • Ensure the recycling materials are measured through established monthly tracking system.
  • Work closely with other crew members during routes, outreach events and special projects.
  • Outreach to community organizations, schools, businesses, and residents and provide recycling information and creative reuse solutions in a variety of settings.
  • Promote sustainability to the CCNB community through recycling lessons, management of a recycling incentives program, and other activities.
  • Work with other crew members to construct recycling bins.

Compensation:

  • $9.00 an hour to start.
  • $5,300 AmeriCorps education scholarship after completion of 1,700 hours in our program if eligible.
  • Training and mentorship in environmental science, career development, public relations, community leadership, and much more!
  • Post-service job search assistance and support for two (2) years after completion of the program.

  • United States citizen, or proof of your legal right to live and work in this country.
  • Between the ages of 18 and 28.
  • Interest in conservation issues, recycling and waste reduction.
  • Interest in affecting change through community service.
  • Enthusiastic about developing new skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups of people.
  • A one-year commitment to participation in an education and job-training program.
  • Interest in career development and participation in field-study program.
